My stalker murdered my husband.  Here’s how you can protect yourself  (Fox 01/14/2023)
John Lott: Concealed-permit gun holders save lives — Texas church attack just the latest example  (Fox 12/30/2019)
•
Concealed-permit gun holders save lives.  And in today's world, they and their weapons should be welcomed in churches and other houses of worship.
•
Within seconds of the shooter opening fire on the Texas congregation Sunday, he was shot dead by two parishioners with concealed handgun permits, one of them a former FBI agent.
•
Four other parishioners had their concealed handguns drawn, ready to respond.
•
The attacker killed two congregants before he was taken down, but the death toll could have been much higher.
•
"The citizens who were inside that church undoubtedly saved 242 other parishioners, and that might get swept aside."
•
"It was miraculous.  The true heroes in all this are the people who were sitting in those pews today and responded, the immediate responders ... it was truly heroic."
•
"Today evil walked boldly among us.  Let me remind you, good people raised up and stopped it before it got worse."
•
Sunday's shooting demonstrated yet again that there are simply too many targets for police to be able to protect everyone.
•
It's also not realistic to keep terrorists and criminals from getting weapons.
•
Permit holders have stopped dozens of would-be mass public shootings?in malls, churches, schools, universities and town centers.
•
It's too bad the congregation meeting in the rabbi's home in Monsey, N.Y., on Saturday didn't have similar protection.
•
Attacks become massacres when there's no one to fight back.
•
If churches are gun-free zones, their parishioners become targets of those who simply do not obey the laws.
•
Permit holders should be able to bring their guns to churches and other houses of worship.
•
They should be able to protect their fellow congregants.
Judge Andrew Napolitano: How dumb are the politicians who want to remove your right to...  (Fox 01/02/2019)
•
Most of the mass killings by guns in the United States in recent years ... took place in venues where local or state law prohibited carrying guns, even by those lawfully licensed to do so.
•
The government cheerfully calls these venues "gun-free zones." They should be called killing zones.
•
We know from reason, human nature, and history that the right to defend yourself is a natural instinct that is an extension of the right to self-preservation, which is itself derived from the right to live.
•
Life is the great gift from the Creator, and we have a duty to exercise our freedoms to preserve life until its natural expiration.
•
But the lives we strive to preserve should not be those actively engaged in killing innocent life.
•
The Framers recognized this when they ratified the Second Amendment ... — the pre-political right to own and use modern-day weapons for self-defense or to repel tyrants.
•
... the Framers recognized that the right pre-existed the government because it stems from our humanity.
•
That's why pre-political rights are known as fundamental or natural rights.
•
Because the right to use modern weaponry for the defense of life, liberty and property are natural, we should not need a government permission slip before exercising it, any more than we need one to exercise other natural rights, such as speech, press, assembly, travel and privacy.
•
... the government has taken the position that it can care for us better than we can care for ourselves.
•
So it has severely curtailed our rights and left us reliant on the government itself for protection.
•
The modern-day massacres are proof beyond a doubt that the government cannot protect us.
•
We have a government here that is heedless of its obligation to protect our freedoms.
•
We have a government that, in its lust to have us reliant upon it, has created areas in the U.S.  where innocent folks living their lives in freedom are made defenseless prey to monsters — as vulnerable as fish in a barrel.
•
And we have mass killings of defenseless innocents — over and over and over again.
•
How dumb are these politicians who want to remove the right to self-defense?
•
There are thousands of crazies in the U.S.  who are filled with hate — whether motivated by politics, self-loathing, religion or fear.
•
If they want to kill, they will find a way to do so.
•
The only way to stop them is by superior firepower.
•
Disarming their law-abiding victims not only violates the natural law and the Constitution but also is contrary to all reason.
•
All these mass killings have the same ending: The killer stops only when he is killed.
•
But that requires someone else with a gun to be there.
•
Shouldn't that be sooner rather than later?

Indiana schools move to arm teachers with guns kept in biometric safes: 'A line of defense'  (Fox 09/26/2023)
•
"The reality is, if you've got somebody who's entered your facility with the intent to do harm, or even kill, as heavy as that is, we want to make sure that they're met with resistance."
•
"Team members are explicitly authorized to use deadly force to protect students, staff members, or others from what is reasonably believed to be an imminent threat of death or serious bodily injury due to violence."
•
"Most of the time the event is over before law enforcement is able to get there.  So that's kind of a critical security gap.  And we just want to make sure that we have a line of defense between our students and our staff, and any one that would want to do them harm."
First-time gun ownership skyrockets amid riots, increased violence across country: 'You can't...'  (Fox 08/03/2020)
•
... stressed the importance of someone being properly trained in using a gun and noted, "There's no such thing as accidents.  It's negligence."
•
"Finger is always off the trigger, muzzle is always in a safe direction.  And if you're going to use it, know what's behind your target.  You've got to be very aware."

Brothers accused of recording attack that left Maryland officer dead  (Fox 03/15/2016)

Police may never be able to satisfactorily explain why a man with a death wish shot at drivers and police officers outside a police station in suburban Maryland while his brothers filmed the firefight on their cellphones.
•
... couldn't explain the "frightening" actions of the shooter or his two brothers ... would be filming their brother's death.
•
The gunman, 22-year-old Michael Ford, dictated a "last will and testament" just minutes before his two brothers drove him to the station, where he began spraying bullets at passing cars and even an ambulance to draw officers outside.

•
"Bradley said nothing had happened to him but he had to give a video statement to the police because he had worked with Mick."
•
"I begged them to re-arrest Mick.  He was back on the estate like nothing had happened and because he'd pleaded not guilty, his victims, including my son, would be made to testify."

•
"The guilt I felt for not protecting him overwhelmed me.  That is when I picked up the knife and went to Mick's."
•

Booming firearms sales driven by 'tiny guns,' conceal-carry laws  (Fox 03/15/2016)
•
"The .380 is generally a smaller frame and much easier to conceal than a more bulky 9-mm.  or .40 caliber pistol – particularly under summer wear."
•
"Yet it still possesses the knock-down power needed in a potential life-or-death shooting situation.
•
"It is especially suited for women as they generally have smaller hands."
•
Often referred to as the .380 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol) or a 9-mm.  short, the .380 — which first hit the market in 1908 — features a pistol cartridge even tinier and lighter than that of the popular 9-mm.  handgun.  But despite its surging popularity, there is debate over the .380's utility as a weapon of self-defense.
•
"The smaller, more compact frames are more difficult to shoot and their durability is lower than the slightly larger sub-compacts."
•
"The accuracy component is also lower due to a more challenging platform to shoot."
•
Other critics agree, saying that relying on such a small gun in a high-pressure, self-defense scenario requires training beyond the typical point-and-shoot sessions at a range.
•
"The difficulty largely stems from the smaller size; which ironically is a main reason for purchase."
•
Historically, the .380 has had a reputation for poor quality that earned it the derisive nickname of "Saturday Night Special."
•
In the 1960s and '70s, the tiny weapons were cheap and associated with criminal acts.
•
Subpar materials and production made them susceptible to accidental discharge incidents and jamming.
•
Today, the gun is generally well-made, retails from $300 to $800 and typically holds between six and eight rounds.
•
"The latest models are of high quality."
•
... anti-gun political rhetoric has largely backfired, and driven sales of guns to historic highs.
•
"With tragedies playing out in marked ‘safe' places, Americans realize that no place is off-limits for the criminal mind.  This is why people are interested in becoming self-reliant for self-defense and less dependent on the response time of an armed police officer to save the day."
•
"The thing about guns in the hands of consumers is that they are like dresses and shoes.  The fashion comes and goes."
